Hip-hop is a musical genre that originated in the streets of Bronx, NY in the ‘70s at the end of the disco era. It has since spread, becoming globally recognized and the top musical genre in the United States. As its foundation, hip-hop has five elements: Deejaying, Emceeing, Breaking, Graffiti Writing, and Knowledge of Self. What was once an art form used to bring hope and peace to its community, is now being harnessed for its potential to do that and much more.
